Things to do during your visit to Skoolhuis
At Skoolhuis you are surrounded by the tranquillity of the majestic mountain scenery, there are walks to suit the elderly right up to hikes for the young and vigorous on the farm trails and among the kloofs.
Skoolhuis makes an ideal base from which to explore the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area and the scenic Gamtoos River Valley.
The area also provides 4x4 routes, sight-seeing, game viewing and bird watching. There are various short scenic excursions such as a visit to the Kouga Dam in the immediate vicinity of Skoolhuis for visitors to explore.
The Baviaanskloof, Kouga and Great Winterhoek Mountains offer fantastic scenery with numerous kloofs and forests.
All the above activities, as well as canoeing and swimming, can be enjoyed in these areas. Due to it's rugged nature, the Baviaanskloof is best travelled with at least a 4x2 bakkie. Skoolhuis, however, is easily accessible by car.
